Happy 2016!

We did something different this year. Instead of staying home like we always do, we booked a room at Embassy Suites to ring in the new year. The kids got to swim, drink Shirley temples while adults drank adults drinks and have the best night ever.

My friend Kasey who works in HR for embassy, did the sweetest thing. I had asked her if there was any way she could make sure we got on a higher floor for Jacob. I knew he would appreciate that. Well, she got us on the top floor, a hospitality suite and even sent up a fruit a cheese plate and beer. It was a great surprise.

I spent two hours in the spa and that made me feel like a new person. I got a pedicure and a facial. All the appointments for massages were booked but it was still great:)

All in all it was a perfect way to ring in a new year. Counting my three precious blessings for sure!

After we checked out we went to see the new Star Wars movie. It was good and I'm not a Star Wars fan at all. Sawyer was so exhausted from all the swimming and staying up late at the hotel that he didn't make it through the movie but the big kids enjoyed it!

All in all a good way to ring in the new year. I'm looking forward to a fresh start for 2016!

Arkansas Weather

It seriously has not felt like December around here. We have had tornados, insane flooding and then snow...all within a week of each other. I'm not gonna lie...summer sounds better everyday 😊

They make fun of me, but anytime we have to go into the storm shelter I grab my MacBook. I have 12 yrs worth of pictures on that thing and while it's backed up in three, yes three, other places, I still feel the need to keep it close.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Never in my life did I think Emma would love doing BJJ. She started at the beginning of September and it's all she thinks about. We've tried other sports and she never cared but this has been a game changer for her. After her very first class she was so exhausted and felt like she was gonna be sick. I asked her how she liked it...even feeling as bad as she did...she said "oh, mom, I LOVE it!! I'm proud of her for finding something she loves and working hard to get better. And I'm not one bit sad about the fact that she is learning great self defense. Maybe I can worry a tiny bit less.

A couple of weekends ago our family went geocaching for the first time. Our neighbors and friends, the Crafts, have done this for a while and we've always heard them talk about it but had never gone. It was sooo fun! Seriously…it's a real life treasure hunt. We just hit a couple here in Bella Vista close to the house but the kids and I are super excited to go in Tennessee when we are visiting in October. There were a lot not far from my mom's when I checked the map:)

Jacob is 6!

This year was probably Jacob's first real birthday party. We have done just small family and close friend parties but this year he had some friends he wanted to invite. He wanted the Kona Ice truck and he wanted the theme to be Minecraft. Well…They don't sell Minecraft party supplies…they are all DIY so I had to get creative…which I'm not!! Thankfully Pinterest is full of ideas for a Minecraft party.

This kid had a smile on his face all evening and said it was the best party ever!! So I'm gonna call that a win!

I can not believe this boy is six already! Time goes so fast! I say this all the time but I wish I could just press the pause button. He is such a kind hearted, thoughtful and precious kid. He has a hilarious sense of humor and he is so curious about everything! I love watching him learn and grow and I love seeing the world through his eyes!

It was sooo stinking hot but it was fun!

Kindergarten and Fourth Grade!

I have dreaded sending this boy to kindergarten since we found out about his allergies but he has been sooo excited to go to school everyday like Emma! Emma was excited to start back to school this year. I thought it felt like our summer flew by but she was really missing her friends.

I thought I was gonna be able to hold it together until after I left him…but we saw some good friends as we were walking up and the mom gave me this "I know you're about to leave your boy at school for the first time look" she was totally being sweet but it was all it took for the tears to well up in my eyes. We were able to get a few pics in front of the school while I pulled myself together before walking him to his class.

On our way inside I remember looking over at him taking it all in with his big excited eyes. Then he looked up at me and grabbed my hand and held it until we got to his classroom. I will never forget the look on his sweet face at that moment. It is burned into my memory. A little bit of nervous and a lot of excited and a big beaming smile.  He ran straight to his teacher to give her a huge hug. Honestly, I don't think I could have left him had he been sad or scared. After he hugged his teacher he went straight over to his table to start coloring. He was so preoccupied with everything going on around him I snagged a side hug on my way out and lost it. He didn't notice but his sweet teacher came outside and gave me a big hug and told me he was gonna be great! Man, it hurts to leave them for the first time.

Emma informed me as we left Jacob's room that I needed to put my sun glasses on and I did not need to walk her to her classroom!! Apparently my cry face is a bit embarrassing.

Poor Sawyer spent most of the day asking me why I was crying and when could we go get them. We were lost without them. I may or may not have been almost first in the car line to pick up. It was a long day for us.

They both reported it was the best day ever!! School is awesome for the Foust kids!!!

Emma and Anne Marie were in kindergarten and first together. I'm glad they're back together this year.

This guy never left my side the entire first day!

Jamberry Nails

So…I am so not a salesperson at all…but my sweet friend, Rachel, signed up to be a consultant for Jamberry Nails and I ended up buying some from her. They looked adorable and I thought I would give them a try and I knew Emma would love them! As soon as Emma and I got them in the mail and discovered we really did love them and saw just how easy they were to apply I went ahead and booked a party with Rachel…I thought I might as well earn some free wraps since we loved them so much. I ended up doing a Facebook party. Rachel did all the work and I invited all my friends. Easy stuff! So…if you're interested in a Jamberry Nail Party, let me know! I would love to host your party for you and help you earn free wraps like I did!

Emma's Jams! So adorable! They have some really cute wraps to choose from that are junior size.
Rachel's Jams...this print is called Lotus and it's my favorite. Can't wait to do mine in this one. Here's my website if you want to give them a try!

Good Travelers

A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.  ~Lao Tzu

So, Emma's May intersession is the next two weeks. They actually have seven snow days to make up during the break but we decided after the winter we had we were heading out anyway. The school actually sent out an email saying if we already had plans for a trip to let them know ahead of time and the absences would be excused. Her teacher was totally fine with it, too. (She has the best teacher ever this year!) We decided we would make the Tennessee trip that got canceled due to weather in February and then head down for our beach trip the next week. I can't even believe how awesome the kids were for all the traveling we did yesterday! From NWA to my mom's the trip usually takes around 11 hours. At least it did before kids. I have never driven this with all three by myself. I've done it with just Emma and also with Emma and Jacob. I also think on those trips we would break it up by stopping in Jonesboro to stay with Andy and Sonya overnight. Well, I convinced myself dragging everything we needed into a hotel for the four of us and then repacking it all again the next morning sounded like too much of a hassle. So, we made the whole trip yesterday in around 13 hours. The trip couldn't have gone any more smoothly. I was so stressed over how hard it was gonna be. My sweet Sawyer was the one I was worried about. He's my little fireball and being strapped in a car seat for most of the day is not his idea of fun...or anyone else's idea of fun either, really. My goal was to leave at 4:00 yesterday morning. I didn't even get in bed until after midnight so I set my alarm for 5:01(that's not a typo...I can not set my alarm for an even number) and we were on the road before 6:00. I thought they might sleep the first couple of hours but I think they were all too wired to rest. We stopped around 8:30 at a chickfila for breakfast and to let the boys get rid of some energy. We were there for probably an hour but as soon as we got back on the road Sawyer took a great nap. I went into this knowing stops were gonna take longer. Being solo meant I didn't have anyone to pump gas or change a diaper while I took the big kids inside to the restroom. And nowadays you can't leave kids in the car while you run in somewhere real quick. Everyone goes in with you. I also tried to stop at a couple of rest areas so the kids could run around a play for 20-30 minutes and stretch their legs. We turned the radio up and sang to the top of our lungs. We danced. We told jokes. Emma would reach up from the third row and play with Sawyer when he was starting to get restless. It seriously was such an easy and fun trip. Of course, we were exhausted when we got here but it couldn't have gone any better. Can't believe I thought it was gonna be tough. They were rockstar travelers!! Here's hoping the trip from here to the beach next weekend goes as smoothly.

Nap number one for this dude.

So, there aren't any great pics. This is terrible and blurry but the only one I got all three in.

Finally starting to look like we are closer to home.

And a beautiful sunset as we turned off the main road before we got to moms.
